In her address, the President said that the tradition of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Maha Kumbh is as ancient as it is rich. The Kumbh gatherings held on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar, at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, on the banks of the Shipra in Ujjain, and on the banks of the Godavari at Nashik, are renowned across the globe. The continuous organization of these gatherings over centuries stands as a testament to the strength of our nation’s historical, cultural, social, and spiritual traditions.
The President said that for centuries, the convergence of countless devotees at these Kumbh Melas has served as living proof of India’s cultural and spiritual unity and the continuity of traditions. These gatherings exemplify faith and social harmony. She expressed confidence that the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Maha Kumbh 2027 will serve as a bridge to connect our ancient heritage with the modern times. She wished that this event be an excellent opportunity to connect our younger generation with India’s magnificent heritage and its core life values.
The President said that today, people across the globe are facing numerous crises due to extreme weather conditions. In our own country, including in regions like Maharashtra, many people, especially our farmers, have been affected by drought. Both the central and state governments are making every effort to ensure that our citizens, particularly our farmers, receive support as they navigate these challenges.
Underlining the importance of cleanliness and awareness about the environment, the President urged citizens to continue making sustained efforts, both individually and collectively, toward environmental conservation. She expressed confidence that during the 'Maha Kumbh' at Nashik, the efforts of the event management, combined with active public participation, will set an exemplary standard for cleanliness and waste management.
