South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, has surpassed several key targets under Special Campaign 6, achieving significant progress in cleanliness, scrap disposal, space optimisation and record management across its establishments in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

SECL has undertaken cleanliness activities at 226 sites against a target of 225, covering more than 47 lakh square feet of area against the target of 40 lakh square feet.

Under the campaign, SECL has disposed of 4,602 metric tonnes of scrap against a target of 3,300 MT, generating revenue of approximately ₹26.17 crore. The achievements reflect the company's focus on efficient resource utilisation, systematic scrap disposal and improved workplace management.

Significant Progress in Record Management and Pendency Reduction

SECL has also recorded substantial progress in physical and electronic file management, surpassing its targets under Special Campaign 6.

Against a target of reviewing 500 physical files, the company has reviewed 2,100 files, while 872 physical files have been weeded out against a target of 200.

In electronic file management, SECL has reviewed 14,215 e-files against a target of 7,000 and closed 13,708 e-files against a target of 3,000, contributing towards reduction of pendency, improved record management and administrative efficiency.

E-Waste Management and Waste-to-Wealth Initiatives

With effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste being a key focus of Special Campaign 6, SECL has undertaken dedicated e-waste collection drives across its establishments.

At SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur, a dedicated e-waste collection bin was installed to facilitate the collection of discarded electronic items from employees. The bin itself was fabricated using discarded materials, demonstrating the concept of ‘Waste to Wealth’.

E-waste collection booths were also established in SECL's residential colonies in Bilaspur in, along with door-to-door collection activities to encourage participation by residents. Similar initiatives have been undertaken across SECL's operational areas.

Public Participation and Cleanliness Awareness Activities

As part of the campaign, SECL organised a range of cleanliness and awareness activities across its operational areas, including cleanliness rallies, Shramdaan activities, Nukkad Nataks, school-level competitions, awareness programmes and community participation initiatives.

The campaign also built upon the activities undertaken during Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, held from 17 September to 2 October, during which SECL cleaned more than 55 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) covering over 10 lakh square feet of area.

The implementation phase of Special Campaign 6 was launched on Gandhi Jayanti, 2 October 2026, with a Swachhata Happy Run, plantation under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and Swachhata Pledge at SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur.

Strengthening Good Governance and Workplace Efficiency

Special Campaign 6 is being implemented from 2 to 31 October 2026, with emphasis on e-waste management, cleanliness, space optimisation, scrap disposal, record management and reduction of pendency.

Through these initiatives, SECL continues to promote cleaner workplaces, responsible waste management, administrative efficiency and good governance, while encouraging greater participation of employees and communities in cleanliness-related activities.
