Medical care, counselling and structured rehabilitation can give people support as they work through recovery. A ministry account of a South Delhi beneficiary describes how access to these services helped him move towards greater stability and stronger family relationships.
The beneficiary, identified as Rahul Kumar with his name changed, is 32 years old. His experience is presented as an example of institutional assistance supporting emotional well-being and the ability to work towards family responsibilities.
Rahul received care at SPYM IRCA Dakshinpuri in South Delhi. Before the intervention, he struggled with anger and emotional balance. Inconsistent family support and financial dependence during rehabilitation added to the stress he faced. Even so, he wanted to take greater responsibility for his family’s emotional and financial needs.
Assistance under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction gave him access to inpatient treatment, medical attention, psychological care and an organised rehabilitation programme. Counselling and a supportive setting helped him focus on recovery and develop ways to manage emotions and behaviour.
The ministry reports that Rahul felt better during treatment and showed improved psychological well-being. It describes greater emotional stability and an improved ability to manage thoughts and behaviour. The support also strengthened his motivation to take responsibility within his family.
Specific income changes have not been reported. The progress described concerns emotional regulation and readiness to support family members. His experience illustrates the contribution medical and psychological care can make within a sustained rehabilitation process, without establishing a separate financial outcome.
The account records support on 27 April 2026. It highlights the role of NAPDDR in providing access to treatment and rehabilitation, with counselling and institutional care helping Rahul develop confidence and work towards greater stability. Continued support is presented as important to rebuilding relationships and participating in family and community life.
