Since 2nd October, 2026, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under the Ministry of Science and Technology has been carrying out Special Campaign 6. The campaign aims to institutionalise Swachhata, cut down pendency, dispose of e-waste, manage records efficiently and build clean and sustainable workplaces.

The work is being steered by the Secretary, DSIR, and closely tracked by the Department's nodal officer along with counterparts from CSIR, CEL and NRDC. Against the target of 9805 physical files set for Special Campaign 6 in the Department, 7781 files have been reviewed so far and 1448 files have been weeded out.

The Department has fully met its targets for reviewing e-files and easing of rules, achieving 100% on both, along with 95% disposal of pending public grievances and appeals. Of the 150 sites targeted for cleanliness drives, campaigns have already been held at 95 sites across the Headquarters of DIR/ CSIR and CSIR laboratories nationwide. So far, these efforts have generated revenue of Rs. 12,08,047 /- and freed up 2980 square feet of space.

Working together with CSIR & its laboratories, CEL and NRDC, the Department will step up its efforts for the rest of Special Campaign 6 to meet 100% of the fixed targets and to foster a positive work environment in line with the vision of a cleaner, greener and healthier India.
