The timely intervention of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) machinery under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, has facilitated the successful resolution of an industrial dispute, ensuring the redeployment of 37 contract workers at the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Model Hospital, Karnataka, and payment of pending wages amounting to approximately ₹7.40 lakh.

The dispute had been raised by the Karnataka State ESIC Model Hospital Contract Workers’ Union concerning the disengagement of Nursing Orderlies and Supporting Staff before the expiry of their contract period. The matter was promptly taken up for conciliation, and the ESIC, as the principal employer, along with the contractor, was called upon to participate in the conciliation proceedings.

Through the effective and timely intervention of the Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central), Bengaluru, under the guidance of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Bengaluru, all 37 affected contract workers were redeployed with effect from 23.10.2026. Further, their pending wages for the month of September 2026, amounting to approximately ₹7.40 lakh, were also paid.

The timely resolution of the dispute safeguarded the employment of the affected workers and ensured the clearance of their outstanding wages, thereby promoting fair labour practices and harmonious industrial relations.

This successful conciliation reflects the commitment of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) Organisation to protecting workers’ interests, facilitating the amicable resolution of industrial disputes and promoting constructive dialogue among workers, employers and other stakeholders.
