The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, successfully concluded its participation in Special Campaign 6, conducted from 2nd to 31st October 2026, under the guidance of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). The campaign focused on institutionalising Swachhata, reducing pendency in Government offices, improving records management and promoting efficient utilisation of office space and resources.

Demonstrating its commitment to efficient and citizen-centric governance, the Department achieved its target of conducting 40 cleanliness campaigns. Significant progress was also made in grievance redressal, with all 100 public grievances and all 30 public grievance appeals disposed of during the campaign. Further, 4 references received from Members of Parliament and 3 PMO references were disposed of.

A focused exercise was undertaken for records management and digitisation. A total number of 800 files physical files were reviewed out of which 745 files were weeded out, contributing to better record management and streamlining of administrative processes. In respect of e-files, 25 out of 45 files put up for review were closed during the campaign.

The campaign also contributed to the effective utilisation of office space and disposal of redundant materials. Through scrap disposal, the Department and its offices freed up approximately 1,150 square feet of office space. Further, the Department undertook an e-waste management exercise covering 308 items across various categories of electronic and electrical equipment.

The Department also leveraged social media effectively, with over 120 posts shared across X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Linkedin, Truth Social, Bluesky and Youtube showcasing various activities undertaken during the campaign and reinforcing public awareness of the Department’s initiatives.

The successful implementation of Special Campaign 6 reflects the Department of Fisheries' continued commitment to promoting cleanliness, improving administrative efficiency, strengthening accountability and creating a more organised, productive and citizen-friendly work environment. The campaign has further reinforced the importance of institutionalising Swachhata and adopting effective practices for better governance and resource optimisation.
