The Ministry of Railways observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and organised activities under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 – Special Campaign 6.0 at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, on 30 October 2026.

To mark the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the ‘Iron Man of India’, Shri Satish Kumar, Chairman & CEO of the Railway Board, administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge at Vichar (Conference Hall), Rail Bhawan. Members of the Railway Board, Directors General, senior officers and staff of the Ministry of Railways were present on the occasion.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed every year on 31st October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He played a pivotal role in the integration of the princely states into the Union of India and made an enduring contribution towards strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation.

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 – Special Campaign 6.0, various activities were organised at Rail Bhawan to promote cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation. Health check-up camps were organised for Safai Mitras, recognising the importance of their health and well-being.

On the occasion, Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, felicitated Safai Mitras in recognition of their dedicated services and contribution towards maintaining cleanliness at Rail Bhawan. The felicitation acknowledged their hard work and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and upholding the spirit of Swachhata in Indian Railways.

The event recognised the contributions of day-to-day maintenance staff, with senior members of the Railway Board felicitating employees for their dedication and hard work. The felicitation included staff from housekeeping and horticulture, reflecting the deep sense of unity within the Rail family and the spirit of working together as One Family. The occasion also coincided with the felicitation of 11 employees who retired after dedicating a significant part of their lives to the service of Indian Railways and the people of the country.

The celebrations reinforced the message of keeping offices clean and green while fostering a culture of teamwork, mutual respect and collective responsibility. It highlighted the spirit of Indian Railways as One Family, working together as One Team to serve the people of India.

As India moves forward towards the vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, Indian Railways continues to play a vital role in strengthening the unity and integration of the nation. As the country's national transporter, connecting every part of India and carrying millions of passengers to their destinations every day, Indian Railways remains a symbol of national unity, bringing people, regions and states closer together.
