The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is undertaking focused efforts for the effective collection, segregation and disposal of electronic waste (e-waste). With the objective of institutionalising Swachhata and promoting efficient resource management, the activity is being undertaken as part of Special Campaign 6 for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM 6).
Under the campaign, 5,337 obsolete and e-waste items have been identified for disposal. The obsolete/ e-waste items are being disposed of through auction, thereby generating revenue and facilitating the optimal utilisation of available space. The disposal process has generated revenue amounting to ₹11,40,220/- so far and resulted in the clearance of approximately 600 sq. ft. of space.
The campaign places special emphasis on the systematic identification, segregation and responsible disposal of obsolete electronic items, while ensuring better utilisation of office space and improved workplace organisation.
Through these sustained efforts, MNRE reaffirms its commitment to Swachhata, environmentally responsible waste management and efficient administrative practices under Special Campaign 6.
