The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence reported a 9.139 kg methamphetamine seizure at Bhopal’s Inter-State Bus Terminal on 20th October 2026. One person was arrested in the operation, which the agency described as part of its action against synthetic-drug trafficking through inter-city transport routes.
Officers acting on intelligence stopped a male passenger when a Delhi-to-Bengaluru bus reached Bhopal. The agency said baggage examination uncovered 11 packets of crystalline material, with a total weight of 9.139 kg, concealed among clothing in two trolley bags. A field test indicated methamphetamine. The substance was seized and the passenger arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
DRI placed the case alongside other recent synthetic-drug operations. These included 231.8 kg of meth tablets recovered in the North-East, suspected to have crossed from Myanmar, and 137 kg of suspected crystal methamphetamine in Tamil Nadu. The latter consignment was allegedly intended for onward transport to Sri Lanka by sea. The agency said the cases show trafficking pressure across inland transport, border and coastal routes.
The agency described intelligence-led enforcement as central to its effort to disrupt narcotics networks and prevent supply to illicit markets. The Bhopal arrest and seizure form part of that continuing enforcement work.
