Bhopal will host the Fisheries Investors & Exporters Conclave 2026 on 23 October 2026. The Madhya Pradesh and Union fisheries departments are organising the event to connect inland fish production with finance, processing, cold chains and export markets. Its focus is on complete value chains that improve market access and returns for fishers and farmers.
More than 1,000 fish farmers from Madhya Pradesh are expected alongside investors, exporters, cooperatives, producer organisations, startups, processors, lenders and researchers. Discussions will examine enterprise development, access to finance and partnerships that bring inland states into investment and export networks.
The Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Investment and Export Guidelines, 2026, will be released at the conclave. With the state notified as a Reservoir Fisheries Cluster, the policy will address investment in hatcheries, seed, feed, reservoir and cage fisheries, aquatic animal health, processing, cold chains, logistics and market development.
The programme includes operating procedures on inland states’ export potential and virtual inauguration of Integrated Cage Culture Units. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh will hand over administrative approval for integrated development of reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars in Madhya Pradesh. These measures are intended to encourage enterprise investment and productive use of water resources.
India produced 197.75 lakh tonnes of fish in 2024–25. Inland fisheries contributed 151.60 lakh tonnes, close to three-quarters of the total. Seafood exports reached ₹73,890 crore in 2025–26. The figures underline the importance of processing, infrastructure and market links.
Madhya Pradesh has nearly 4.50 lakh hectares of water area. The event aims to link this production base, and those of other inland states, with investors and businesses serving domestic and overseas markets.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Minister of State S. P. Singh Baghel and Madhya Pradesh fisheries minister Narayan Singh Pawar are scheduled to attend.
By bringing producers, businesses and institutions together, the conclave aims to develop more competitive inland fisheries enterprises and expand livelihood and income opportunities for fishing communities.
