Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will travel to Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where he will represent India at the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), set to take place on October 19-20, 2026. Discussions at the meeting will centre on deepening multilateral cooperation among SCO Member States, especially in trade, economy, investment, connectivity, innovation and cultural-humanitarian exchanges. The meeting is also likely to take stock of ongoing cooperation initiatives and to consider decisions on the Organisation's financial and institutional functioning.
India continues to take an active part in various SCO mechanisms and supports regional cooperation through initiatives in fields such as start-ups and innovation, digital public infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges. For India, the meeting will be a chance to share views with fellow SCO Member States on taking forward practical and mutually beneficial cooperation within the Organisation.
The previous CHG meeting was held in Moscow, Russia, on November 18, 2025, where India was represented by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
