Zydus Wins FDA Approval for Combined Menopause Hormone Patch

The US Food and Drug Administration granted final approval on 19 October 2026 for Zydus’s estradiol and levonorgestrel transdermal system. The regulator confirmed the decision in a subsequent announcement. This is a generic equivalent of Climara Pro, combining estrogen and progestogen in a patch for women with an intact uterus. Its approved uses include treating moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause and preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis. The progestogen component reduces the risk of endometrial hyperplasia associated with estrogen alone. The FDA said the approval supports access to generic medicines. The product has contraindications and requires an individual clinical assessment; the approval does not establish that hormone therapy is suitable for everyone. Information about commercial availability should come from the manufacturer.
