The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) successfully concluded the Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 (SHS-2026) campaign on 2nd October 2026, with a series of cleanliness and awareness activities across the country.

The campaign commenced on 17th September 2026 with the Swachhata pledge. During the fortnight, DFPD, along with its PSUs and attached and subordinate offices, conducted a range of activities including cleanliness drives at Central Government offices, door-to-door awareness campaigns, drawing competitions, walkathons, tree plantation under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, “Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Saath” activities and cultural programmes such as poem recitation, Nukkad Natak and slogan writing.

On the eve of Swachh Bharat Diwas, officials participated in cleanliness and sweeping activities, reinforcing the message of cleanliness and dignity of labour.

On the concluding day, the Department paid floral tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary, observed as Swachh Bharat Diwas. As a mark of appreciation for their dedicated services, SafaiMitras of the Department were felicitated with gifts for their contribution towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in office premises.

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) also organised a concluding ceremony at its Headquarters, where Safai Workers were felicitated with gifts and awards in recognition of their dedicated services.

The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) observed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” through a plantation drive and officials also took the Swachhata Pledge through the MyGov portal, reaffirming their commitment to cleanliness, environmental sustainability and public participation.

Officials of IGMRI, Hyderabad and Ludhiana, observed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” by undertaking plantation drives. A similar plantation activity was also organised by officials of the Central Grain Analysis Laboratory, CGO Complex, New Delhi, on 2nd October 2026.

The Department reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the spirit of Swachhata and promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility and public participation beyond the campaign period.
