CAQM Chairperson Rajesh Verma and Delhi’s Chief Secretary jointly chaired a review with government agencies on dust pollution. The meeting focused on stronger coordination and practical measures to curb air pollution in the days ahead.
The Commission said agencies must implement its statutory directions rigorously. It specifically asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to reinforce dust-control work on roads and open areas within its responsibility.
The meeting continued the Commission’s assessment of Delhi’s dust-mitigation efforts. A notice dated 07.10.2026 had earlier required MCD and all its Deputy Commissioners to appear on 12.10.2026, with a detailed account of road dust and garbage removal in each zone.
DPCC was asked to coordinate closely with the other agencies. The Commission noted that many departments and construction bodies were not putting safeguards such as wind barriers and dust screens in place, including during excavation that allows dust to accumulate. Departments were told to act promptly on identified problems and take strict action against responsible officials, project proponents or implementing agencies where violations occurred.
CAQM reiterated that failure to carry out its statutory directions, particularly on dust mitigation, would invite strict action. District Magistrates are to monitor compliance within their jurisdictions and ensure that the required measures are implemented on the ground.
