The Indian Army’s senior leadership has gathered in New Delhi for the Army Commanders’ Conference, its apex forum held twice a year. Chaired by the Chief of the Army Staff, the meeting runs from 21 to 23 October 2026. Discussions cover the changing security situation, operational readiness, capability building and the Army’s transformation priorities.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to address the conference. Talks on current security issues will also be delivered by the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Singh is due to release the Land Warfare Doctrine, intended to guide preparations for future conflicts and the evolving nature of warfare. He will also unveil the annual United Nations Journal and honour Army personnel for notable service as UN peacekeepers. The recognition acknowledges professionalism and contributions to international peace and security during their deployments.
The Chief of the Army Staff will present awards for Green Military Stations and Aviation Flight Safety. These recognise environmental sustainability and resource management, as well as efforts to build and maintain a strong culture of aviation safety.
The conference gives commanders an opportunity to assess initiatives already under way and identify areas that need further attention. Its deliberations are intended to inform policy for an adaptable, technologically capable Army prepared for future requirements. Readiness, capability development and the direction of ongoing transformation remain central to that agenda.
