Prime Minister Narendra Modi has used a Sanskrit Subhashitam to convey a message about modesty and self-improvement. His post asks readers to keep success in perspective, remain open to learning and continue developing their abilities.
The Sanskrit verse shared in the post reads:
खद्योतो द्योतते तावद् यावन्नोदयते शशी। उदिते तु सहस्रांशौ न खद्योतो न चन्द्रमाः।।
The comparison moves from the glow of a firefly to the moon and then to the sun. A firefly seems bright until the moon appears; after sunrise, even the moon’s light is overshadowed. The message is that achievements are relative. Rather than treating a limited accomplishment as a reason for pride, one should stay humble and keep learning.
